Do you watch television with a second screen?
TV networks are producing online second screen content in support of their prime time shows. Want to play detective? A new iPad app called CBS Connect links views to the plots for cop shows like NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI and Hawaii Five-O.
The apps gave fans a place to gather and comment while they watched episode and that makes TV viewing more of a communal experience. It’s kind of like the old days when the family watched “The Ed Sullivan Show” or when friends got together to watch “M*A*S*H” or “Twin Peaks.”
Even old shows in reruns can have a community using a service called Zeebox. It offers content for everything on TV, including reruns of classic TV shows, soap operas and obscure reality series. Even “The Andy Griffith Show” has a page that includes chats, tweets, links to official websites and Facebook pages and profiles of the stars.
