ION iTYPE iPhone Desktop Keyboard Revealed [World’s First Full iPhone QWERTY Keyboard Billed as Transforming iPhone into ‘an Ultraportable Computer’]

ION chose this years CES event to showcase what they term as the world’s first desktop keyboard designed exclusively for the iPhone, known as the ION iTYPE.

The ION iTYPE iPhone desktop keyboard features a full QWERTY keyboard layout, is battery powered (thus making it portable) and is specifically aimed, according to ION, at travellers, vacationers and other iPhone users on the go who will ‘appreciate the weight-saving iTYPE, which can enable them to complete trips without taking their notebook computer’ though, personally, I’m not quite convinced that the iPhone is a true substitute for a notebook, but let’s go with ION on this for now.

for use with iPhone. This first-of-its-kind battery-powered peripheral transforms the handheld device from a touch-screen mobile phone into an ultra-portable computer. iTYPE features a standard QWERTY keyboard layout with full-sized keys and the complete functionality of a desktop keyboard.

The ION iTYPE iPhone Desktop Keyboard is scheduled to become available in Q2 of this year but, as yet, ION haven’t offered any indication as to pricing.
