Braille eBook

It seems that a Braille E-book may someday be out in the market soon and would be something that blind people should be looking forward to. Although the technology to make it might be far from perfect, it might be good enough to know that such technology already exists and may someday help blind people do away with the bulky books in Braille texts that are currently available.

The Braille E-book remains just a concept for the meantime. The concept for it was developed by a team of designers, Seon-Keun Park, Byung-Min Woo, Sun-Hye Woo and Jin-Sun Park. The technology for this innovative gadget concept is based on EAP or electroactive polymers. By way of an electromagnetic signal, the surface pattern of a display screen can be dynamically changed as dots and therefore able to simulate Braille text.

The concept might be quite a simple idea. The advantage of it is that such a technology already exists and only requires further development. But the concept of a Braille E-book may someday change the lives of many blind people. Through a Braille E-book, it would be easier to make reading materials more available for the blind as well as offer them a more convenient means of doing their reading without having to bring along huge books in Braille text to do so.
