Costing about US$150, the Netgear EVA2000 Digital Entertainer Live streaming video player is noticeably more expensive than its competitors like Asus O!Play HDP-R1 and Western Digital WD TV and may appear to have more advanced features considering the hefty price. However, according to TrustedReviews.com, a more expensive item does not necessarily mean it is the more premium in the market.
Unlike the other streaming video players available, the Netgear EVA2000 could not play back in 720p unless the file is in MPEG-2 format. Other formats are instead shown either in Standard Definition or upscaled-to720p SD.
It has, however, one advantage over its competitors, as the Digital Entertainer Live provides access not only to YouTube, but also to TV channels that are streamed from the Internet as well as the BBC iPlayer. Still, the review recommends that when it comes to streaming video players, we should look elsewhere but here.
