Our favorite apps for little fingers

My smartphone and tablet are loaded with the usual popular apps like Facebook, Instagram and Flipboard. But both have a folder that's home to dinosaurs, race cars and a singing alphabet. Paw-Paw never knows when he might need a little help to keep a 2- or 4-year-old occupied and entertained.

I have a list of some of our favorite apps that combine learning and fun posted at MyWell-Being.com. They’re available for the iPhone or iPad through Apple's App Store and you can find the same or similar versions for Android devices through Google Play or the Amazon Apps Store.

A good place to start is Endless Alphabet. It costs a little more than the other apps, but we think it’s worth the price. The app turns letters of the alphabet into animated creatures who voice the sound each makes when they’re in a word. Complete the word puzzle by placing each letter in the correct position and you’re rewarded with the definition and an animation.
